Life doesn’t have to fall apart to prove you’ve been running on empty, but sometimes it takes one phone call to change everything. I’m back after a long break, and I’m sharing why I disappeared, what caregiving has looked like in real time, and how my mom’s stage 4 colon cancer diagnosis forced me to rethink time, priorities, and the way I’ve been living. This is honest, tender, and still practical, because I’m not here to spiral. I’m here to tell the truth and help us move forward.

We get into the difference between accountability and punishment, because missing a deadline is one thing, but beating yourself up until you quit is another. I talk about therapy insights that hit hard: the “jar” where we stuff every responsibility so we can keep functioning, and the moment my therapist said, “Your cup isn’t half empty. Your cup is empty.” If you’re the reliable one, the fixer, the leader, the caregiver, or the friend who always shows up, this language will feel familiar, and it might finally explain your irritation, your fatigue, and your burnout.

Then we turn all of that into boundaries and real-life strategies: auditing your energy instead of only your calendar, figuring out what doesn’t belong in your jar, practicing consideration with boundaries, and letting “no” be a complete sentence. We also talk about true rest, the kind you can’t sleep your way into, and why functioning is not the same as flourishing. If you’re ready to stop over-accommodating and start living more authentically, press play, subscribe, and share this with someone who needs permission to refill their cup. Then leave a review and tell me: what’s one thing you’re putting down this week?
